1. No large changes but total reviews of the manual may be necessary
There is said to be no upgrading of the Standard requirement levels,
but in details some portions of your manual should be reviewed and revised.
2. Increased numbers of gshallh and sub clauses
Numbers of gshallh has increased from 52 to 60, besides numbers of
sub clauses from 72 to 101.
3. Main points of the revision
(1) Scope
a) Specification of environmental aspects that you can control and
influence independently.
b) Documentation of the scope of EMS (4.4.4 b)
(2) Communication of environmental policy to all persons working for
or on behalf of the organization (4.2 f)
(3) Documentation on how to specify environmental aspects (4.3.1)
(4) Determination on how to apply legal and other requirements to
environmental aspects (4.3.2 b)
(5) Establishment of environmental a programme(s) for achieving environmental
objectives and targets ( 4.3.3 ).
The clause 4.3.4 is absorbed in 4.3.3.
(6) Enlargement of applicable persons for training to any persons
performing tasks for the organization.
(7) Documentation on whether to communicate externally about significant
environmental aspects (4.4.3 b).
(8) Only one gdocumented procedureh for 4.4.6 a) is required.
(9) Periodical evaluations of compliance applicable legal and other
requirements are required.
(10) Procedures for corrective and preventive actions are required
as ISO9001:2000.
(11) The sentence in 1996 version of 4.5.1 that this shall include
the recording of information to track performance, etc. is changed
to that the procedure(s) shall include the documenting of information
to monitor performance, etc.
(12) Five records ( training, calibration, results of corrective and
preventive actions, and monitoring and measurement ) are required
as mandatory. Still the confusion of documents with record remains

2004h in ISO14001 corner of this web-site).
(13) Detailed requirements for management review input are required
as similar to ISO9001: 2000.
3. Transition period
It will be half a year.
