Last week four small construction companies in the same
prefecture got ISO9001 certifications with no conformity by one day
assessment for each companies from Tuesday to Friday. The companies
have almost the same simple systems with no independent procedure and
no document numbers, and so on.
The way I instructed the companies was that at first step I selected
a company from the four and made the system of the company as a model
for the remained three. After then I held ten meetings in five months
to apply the model to all the four.
Two assessors of Certification body B did preliminary assessments but
they did not fair assessments based on " shalls". Therefore, the members
of the first companies which was received the assessment strongly put
forward a counterargument against the way the assessors did. The attitude
of the company finally contributed to the success of the final assessments.
After several arguments a manager of the body apologized for unfair
assessments and promised fair assessments based on "shalls".@But it
was seemed at the final assessments that the assessors did not change
the way completely in spite of no pointing out of nonconformity.
