Is he really a lead auditor?(2001.Apr-1)
1. Audit of Quality manual
The certification body B did the audit of Quality manual of Company A. A lead auditor of the audit pointed out 96 items, but there were no distinction between non-conformities and recommendations. There is no identification in terms of the specific requirements of the Standard against which the audit had been conducted.
One of them was like that " this column is small".The management representative of the Company A was surprised at the bad quality of the lead assessor and made a complaint to the general manager of the certification body. The general manager of the certification body soon made contact with the lead auditor and warned him. The lead auditor came to the Company A and reduced 96 items to 12 items.Hearing the development of the affair I recommend to the management representative not to make informal deals with the auditor and to submit formal complaint documents against formal 96 items written by the auditor.
2. Final non-conformities
The auditor made final audit report that contained 3 non-conformities.But those non-conformities were also caused by wrong interpretations of the Standard.Again the management representative put forward a counterargument for the 3 non-conformities.To the counterargument finally the lead auditor admitted his faults and the 3 non-conformities had become none!
